WEIRDO stage takeover at Dialled In 2022

  • Uplands Business Park E17 5QN (map)

We’re presenting a two-hour takeover at this year’s Dialled In festival!

The aim of Dialled In is to showcase how South Asian artists have previously been underestimated by a predominantly white-focused creative industry. The work aims to inspire younger South Asian creatives by breaking down doors and paving a way forward. With this ethos, we’re excited to be joining the lineup with our takeover, brining punk and rock music to the South Asian community.

As part of our takeover, there will be music from British Indian rocker Maya Lakhani and protest punk trio KILL, THE ICON!

About the artists

British Indian Rock Artist Maya Lakhani, was born into the rock scene, playing in bands from the age of 12. Maya released her debut single, ‘The Line’, in 2020, to high critical acclaim. She received extensive airplay from BBC Introducing and was featured on three Spotify editorial playlists (All New Rock, New Noise and Fierce Femmes). ‘The Line’ also received UK national airplay on Planet Rock by Wyatt Wendels and Radio X by John Kennedy. Maya’s latest offering ‘Nightfall’ also received national airplay on Planet Rock and Radio X, cementing her as one to watch in the rock scene.

KILL, THE ICON! are a punk trio driven by distorted bass, synth and drums. Inspired by protest movements, the London-based band fronted by Dr Nishant Joshi serves up an angular soundtrack to modern activism. Furious at billionaires and corrupt politicians alike, their forthcoming EP promises to make a dent in the kleptocracy.

Timings and stage TBA. Full lineup on Dice.
